Blog Title Caricature from "Colonel Nathan Jessup in A Few Good Men"
In 2010, we saw a new era ushered in for the GOP all across the country that they had not seen since 1928. They were entrusted with a lot of control and power at the state levels of government. That was the so-called Tea "Party" movement ... now however that teabag is stale, shriveled up and a crappy brown. In a word the GOP has abused their power, the people's trust, and their oath of office in many states.
The chart above is a sample and is better explained explained in this short 6-minute clip from the Rachel Maddow Show on NBC News.
There are numerous examples of the GOP-led state governments abusing their power: harsh rules for womens' health care, misguided approaches to immigrants (both legal and undocumented and especially those born here or brought here at a young age), voter suppression in the name of "stopping voter fraud" which quite frankly does not exist, and their relentless attacks on Unions, public employees.
The record is clear and best summarized as: The GOP can't govern when given the chance.
Of course, in Congress it is just as bad, perhaps worse. They lose an election, many seats, and yet they blame the voters for reacting to their harshness and do-nothing (or too darn much) for the results while setting up for the next election. A congress with a 10-20% approval rating is not effective government.
