Banks: The Best, Brightest, and Biggest Flim Flam Around

View Held by Most Americans
New Item in Banking Portfolio

Investigate piece from Alter Net with this headline: “Banks Launder Billions in Illegal Cartel Money While Snubbing Legal Marijuana Businesses...”

From the article: Bank of America, Western Union, and JP Morgan are among the institutions allegedly involved in the drug trade.

From Rolling Stone, this reminder: HSBC has admitted its laundering role, and evaded criminal prosecution by paying a fine of almost $2 billion. The lack of imprisonment of any bankers involved is indicative of the hypocritical nature of the drug war; an individual selling a few grams of drugs can face decades in prison, while a group of people that tacitly allow – and profit from – the trade of tons, escape incarceration.

This is why banks and bankers have such a bad reputation. They should be ashamed of that honor, but hey, they earned it – they have shame, not a drop. Why should they when are not held to account, except a few fines, while avoiding jail time.

More later on this I am sure.
