Okay, Okay, 10 Debates, But Not Any More
Take a quick look back at the 2012 GOP presidential selection process, if you
dare. Try keeping the RNC Chairman’s most-recent proposal in mind: “I think a traveling
circus of debates is insanity in this party. We're proposing to have fewer than
10, and this time around, we're going to pick the moderators.”
The story is here: Priebus said he is proposing to hold just 10 debates for the would-be GOP
nominees in 2016, compared with the 27 they held in 2012 when produced former
Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney as the GOP's nominee. His reasoning? He seems to think with the headlines, and I guess, believes that the “Fewer Debates Will Strengthen Our Party...” Figure that one out.
His rationale, if we can call it that: “We don't want to discuss
too many things too much, but we do want to keep our base in tow – so, remember
to vote GOP, Okee Dokee?”
That message, not so subtle, appears to be somewhat
subliminal means: “The more debates we have the worse it would be for our side.
Besides, the more that the voters are enlightened, the worse it could be for us
like in 2012. But fear not, we will turn out our base and whoop some DEM ass. So,
oh, yeah. So, are you with me?”
“Well, all righty then” (Jim Carrey voice-over).
