Rand Paul's Dystopian Nightmare View of America
(Which way is he looking? Maybe he watched a rerun of The Exorcist)
Dystopian: “An
imaginary place or state in which the condition of life is extremely bad, as
from deprivation, oppression, or terror” (or here: from GOPers like Rand Paul spouting
Libertarianism).
Should we heed his warnings? Hell, who knows outside of Rand
Paul, I suppose… This article from Alternet is pretty darn good (*even with my editing to fit this Blog).
Paul drew a largely friendly reception at the University of
California-Berkeley (yes, that Berkeley )
as he skewered the intelligence community and trying to “recruit (I guess)”
young voters, like the ones who always surround a Paul, just like they did his
dear old dad, Ron Paul.
His strategy, not unlike his father's, is to package a
fairly old-school brand of economic conservatism under the trendier name of
“libertarianism.” That’s not just a labeling change. It also means Paul has
paired his retrograde economic ideas with a very outspoken stance against
militarism and the espionage state. It’s a mixture that Paul hopes can make
inroads with groups that are not traditionally Republican voters.
But, buyer beware as
they say: Here are 10 reasons why Millennials (don't you just love
how we label young folks these days (Millennials, Baby Boomers, Gen X, the Drop
Out's, et al). They should all be extremely wary of Rand Paul as pointed out in
the article linked here (check them out).
Rand Paul — the worst nightmare? For all of us.
