On the Way to Next RNC Convention: Sectarian Prayers Only

Put that Science Book Away, Dino

Come Armed, or Don't Come at All

Today at the USSC (Greece v. Galloway) 80 pages.

WASHINGTON (AP) — Prayers that open town council meetings do not violate the Constitution even if they routinely stress Christianity, a divided Supreme Court ruled Monday. The court said in 5-4 decision that the content of the prayers is not significant as long as they do not denigrate non-Christians or proselytize. Justice Anthony Kennedy, writing for the majority, said the prayers are ceremonial and in keeping with the nation's traditions.

Justice Kagan wrote as part in her dissent, and I agree with her: “Greece's town meetings involve participation by ordinary citizens, and the invocations given — directly to those citizens — were predominantly sectarian in content.”

Just imagine the uproar if a Muslim were to ask to lead the opening prayer, or a Jewish, or possibly even Hindu prayer?  How about someone stood up and said, how about a “moment of silence and no prayer?”  ... Calls for OFF WITH THEIR HEADS would ring throughout the land of Oz, and falsely, too. That is not America that I know and love.

Besides guns and the Bible mean a lot to millions of Americans, but also they do not mean a lot to millions, either.

Anyway, those with guns would shoot you if you claimed the world was only a few thousand years old, and we did not actually coexist with Dino the Dinosaur. As they stood their ground at City Council, right? ...
