The Map Snatched from Vox here, which I modified a bit
The House finally does the right thing for a change. For
the first time ever, they are taking action to protect – not condemn – medical
marijuana use.
Shortly after midnight
Friday (today, May 30, 2014 ),
they passed a measure that would prohibit the Drug
Enforcement Agency (DEA) from raiding medical marijuana activities in states
where it is legal (refer to the map above). It had broad bipartisan support
with 170 Democrats and 49 Republicans voting in favor of the bill — the final 219-189
tally can be seen here at the House.gov site.
Also, I totally agree with GOP Rep. Dana Rohrabacher from California
who said on the House floor that the amendment he introduced “should be a
no-brainer for conservatives who support states' rights.” He then argued
passionately against allowing the federal government to interfere with a
doctor-patient relationship, saying, “Some people are suffering, and if a
doctor feels that he needs to prescribe something to alleviate that suffering,
it is immoral for this government to get in the way. And that's what's happening.”
Good for him. The rest of the story is here.
