Hard to Impossible to Dispute the Facts
Paul Wolfowitz quotes for judgment of history:
“The absence of Saddam is a huge weight off the Arab world.”
“We did not go to war in Afghanistan
or in Iraq to,
quote, 'impose democracy.' We went to war in both places because we saw those
regimes as a threat to the United States .”
Wolfowitz also called former General Eric Shinseki’s
warning about the troop strength needed in Iraq as: “…wildly off the mark.”
Then Wolfowitz predicted that American troops would “…be
greeted as liberators.”
William Kristol and his words of wisdom:
“I'm not apologizing for something that I think was
not wrong. The war to remove Saddam was the right thing and necessary thing to
do.”
In response to Carl Bernstein who said: “Apologies would be
in order for the neoconservatives who banged the war drums so disastrously,
Bill.”
“Hogwash!” Kristol bellowed at Bernstein.
From Dark Dick:
“I believe very deeply in the proposition that what we did
in Iraq was the
right thing to do. It was hard to do. It took a long time. There were
significant costs involved. But we got rid of one of the worst dictators of the
20th century.”
“We now know that Saddam [Hussein] has resumed his efforts
to acquire nuclear weapons.”
“I'm absolutely convinced that the threat we face now, the
idea of a terrorist in the middle of one of our cities with a nuclear weapon,
is very real and that we have to use extraordinary measures to deal with it.”
“I was a big supporter of water boarding. I was a big
supporter of the enhanced interrogation techniques that…” (then when asked: “And
you opposed the administration’s actions of doing away with water boarding?”) Cheney replied: “Yes.”
Let's just call all that a triple Rick Perry oops moment. ‘nuff said. (Oh yeah, there are plenty more out there in la-la land from the GOPer Right Wing nut roll tree).
