Congress Rated as Likable in Between Chavez and Castro - oops
We all love to hate Congress and rightly so. Consider Public
Policy Polling (PPP), frequently uses Congress as a punching line. They released a poll in October 2013 that showed Congress
was less popular than hemorrhoids, toenail fungus, dog poop, among other
things. They had a job approval rating then of some 5%... today: about what: 8
or 9% — progress, right? Ha…
What is a voter to do? What is the state of politics
in America
today?
Who runs for office? We see or end up with a whole lot of slick, polished, well-funded (#1
polish), camera-ready, toothy, well-spoken and PR savvy types in and seeking
office who won't or can't or are unable to lead on most critical issues but who
are great at BS-ing about how they will “solve problems for the ‘American’
people, create jobs, and cut taxes.” And, boy, don’t you just hate
that phrase, “for the American people” every time we hear it on the House floor
in those hot air speeches to an empty chamber. Issues that matter to the
general public are in last place especially when they interfere with an incumbent’s
chances for survival in office, unless you happen to have a fat check for them
or can sponsor a million-dollar fund raiser for them in Vegas or aboard you
yacht.
At the end of the day, voters are often left with only two
choices as they ponder how to exercise their cherished right to vote, which
also assumes they even get the chance to invoke that right in view of all the
voter suppression crap we have seen over the years.
Those two choices are:
Thus, the question is: Why do we, the people as they say, tolerate such a low standard?
