Top Gets Big Tax Breaks - How to Pay for Them: Chop Social Security and Medicare

GOP Ready to Choose Poorly
(Trying Ever Since 1935)

Who says ducks aren't smart, right Daffy

Update: Social Security and Medicare both back on the GOP Meat Axe table.
Historical Note: The GOP has been after Social Security dating back to 1936 when their Republican presidential candidate, Al Landon (the Gov. of KS) said in a famous Milwaukee speech on September 26, 1936, that was titled: I WILL NOT PROMISE THE MOON” said in part: “This law (Social Security passed in 1935) is unjust, unworkable, stupidly drafted, and wastefully financed. It is a cruel hoax on the American worker.”
So, WTF is it with Republicans? A short reminder from the Chicago Tribune and this recently from The Hill here.
Some Specifics:
Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) on FAUX gnus has stressed that her colleagues are focused on preserving benefits for recipients who deserve them as House Republicans push entitlement reform, saying in part: “We're not talking about taking away benefits from those who deserve those benefits. The goal is to make certain that those who deserve and need those benefits get everything that they're entitled to. You do it by making the system more efficient, by innovating, utilizing health-care technology.”
Blackburn's comments come as Speaker Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) has angled to make entitlement reform a GOP priority in 2018, calling Medicare and Medicaid the “big drivers of debt,” adding this beauty – says he “wants Republicans to focus in 2018 on reducing spending on government entitlement programs.”
(I Note: That is a load or horse hockey – hey GOP: Hands off – workers have already paid or still are paying into both Social Security and Medicare from their payroll deductions – many, if not most, their whole working lives… these two critical programs belong to them NOT to the rotten GOP meat axe crowd. Also, recall that Ryan wants to convert Medicare into a voucher program and I guess he hopes the money will be there for care when needed, right?).
On the other hand, GOP Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) dismisses that focus on entitlement reform, saying Democrats will not be interested.
A bit more on this topic:
Recently Trump said “welfare reform” will “take place right after taxes, very soon, very shortly after taxes.” (From Salon.com).
(Note to Trump: Social Security and Medicare ARE NOT welfare – in fact they are earned benefits and BTW Mr. Trump: Welfare ended years ago – so get in step).
Then add this asinine statement from another horrible Republican:
While he was whipping votes for a GOP tax bill, Senate Finance Committee Chairman Sen. Orrin Hatch (R-UT), attacked public assistance as “liberal programs for the poorsaying:Congress needs to stop wasting Americans' money. We are spending ourselves into bankruptcy. Now, let's just be honest about it: We're in trouble. This country is in deep debt. You don't help the poor by not solving the problems of debt, and you don't help the poor by continually pushing more and more liberal programs through.”
(Note for Booby Hatch: Stop with the cheap shots and stop giving $1 trillion to the top crust by screwing the needy – that might work the most).
My 2 Cents: The Democrats have rightly argued that Republicans have added to the nation’s fiscal problems by passing that $1.5 trillion tax package, and now they need to find cuts to pay for the top crust – I guess on backs of hard-working Americans in their golden years by taking away or modifying SS/and Medicare.
I hope the GOP pushes this and that on top of all the other crap we can be assured as a party they will be flushed from the history books – they are despicable and evil and nasty and hard-hearted without any question.
If the public needs more reasons to dump this all GOP-run government, then this issue is surely it.
Stay tuned and thanks for stopping by and ...

HAVE VERY HAPPY and HEALTHY NEW YEAR.
