Trump teased the American prisoners impending release from North Korea tweeting Wednesday night “stay tuned,” adding: “The Obama administration had been unsuccessful in trying to free the three hostages.”

The facts on the three Americans:

Kim Dong-chul has been in North Korean custody since before Trump was elected, but the and the other two detainees (Kim Hak-song and Kim “Tony” Sang-duk) were arrested in April and May of 2017 Spring – soon after Trump had been sworn into office.

Kim Sang-duk and Kim hak-song were accused and arrested for carrying out “hostile acts” against the Kim Jong-un regime. Both worked at the Pyongyang University of Science and Technology (PUST), which bills itself as the only privately run university in the North Korean capital. 

Kim Dong-chul was arrested in 2015 for spying on behalf of South Korea (re: CNN January 2016 interview with Kim – in the presence of North Korean officials where CNN said they could not determine whether Kim's comments were made under duress or not).

My 2 Cents: Trump lacks in the common sense mental department category – yes, he is a shrewd and skilled con artist, but otherwise shameful as a human being and totally unfit and unprepared to be president. Why is Trump never held to account for his blatant and outlandish lies vis-à-vis Barack Obama?

This prisoner release story shows how he twists the truth to fluff himself. That is both degrading and low, yet he seems to never be held to account – why is that? 

Is this acceptance of a president with over 3,000 documented lies and false statements representing us? I sure hope not.
