GOP Committee Chairs Rep. James Comer (R-KY) and Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH) and most others in their camp are hell bent on impeaching President Joe Biden on as it turns out a “nothing burger” investigation vs. Jared Kushner’s proven fact that he got $2 billion from Saudi Prince MBS shortly after leaving his Trump White House position.
That is now in the
spotlight based on this story wherein the DEMS are demanding to hear from him
under oath laid out in this
NEWSWEEK article headline:
“Jared
Kushner Called to Face the Music”
Democratic Reps.
Jamie Raskin (MD) and Robert Garcia (CA) are calling on Republicans to hold a
hearing for Trump’s son-in-law Jared Kushner over a $2 billion
investment his private equity firm received shortly after he left the White House.
Democrats have often
discussed the money Kushner's firm, Affinity Partners, and the $2B he received
from a fund led by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS).
The investment was received six months after Kushner left his White House adviser role under Trump in January 2021.
This comes as Republicans have
tried to impeach President Joe Biden over
allegations the president benefited from his son, Hunter Biden's foreign dealings while in office and to date with no evidence.
Meanwhile, Democrats on the
House Oversight Committee already previously released a report alleging Trump's businesses received millions in foreign
payments while he was in office.
Eric Trump, executive vice president of the Trump Organization, dismissed the report's finding as a joke and said that all the
company's profits from its business with foreign governments were voluntarily
donated to the United States Treasury.
Rep. Jamie Raksin (D-MD), a
ranking member of the Committee on Oversight and Accountability, and Rep. Garcia
(D-CA) a ranking member of the Subcommittee on National Security, the Border,
and Foreign Affairs, sent a letter asking leading Republicans on the House
Oversight Committee to hold a hearing over Kushner's “apparent influence
peddling and quid pro quos for actions he undertook to reshape U.S. foreign
policy in the Middle East.”
They said in their letter: “We write to urge you to convene a
hearing regarding Jared Kushner's apparent influence peddling and quid pro quo
deals involving investments in exchange for official actions and to examine the
resulting threats to our national security. Our request comes in light of
allegations that Jared Kushner is pursuing new foreign business deals, just as
Donald Trump becomes the presumptive Republican nominee
for the presidency. This Committee cannot claim to be ‘investigating foreign
national’ attempts to target and coerce high-ranking U.S. officials' family
members by providing money or other benefits in exchange for certain actions
while continuing to ignore these matters.”
NOTE: The Raskin/Garcia letter noted that Comer previously had
indicated that Republicans would also have questions for Trump's family
members, including Jared Kushner.
Comer then conceded “… Mr.
Kushner's conduct ‘crossed the line of ethics'’ and we promise that the
Oversight Committee will investigate Mr. Kushner.”
Jordan said Kushner had a
positive impact on diplomacy, including being one of the “key officials”
involved in the Abraham Accords Act — a diplomatic agreement between Israel and
the Arab countries that was brokered by Trump in September 2020.
Rep. Jordan said: “Of course the Democrats don't want to admit that.”
In response to that from Jordan,
Rep. Raskin said he has a motion to have the committee “…move to subpoena
Kushner and compel his testimony related to the $2 billion he was given by Saudi
Prince MBS shortly after Kushner left the Trump White House.”

My 2 Cents: This action DEM Reps. Raskin and Garcia is long
overdue and very timely … the evidence is clear re: Kushner’s foreign money
links vs. that which the GOP has not made to Mr. Biden. As plain as day.
I say that based on this according to ethics experts, who say the investment creates the appearance of potential payback for Kushner, given that he had been a staunch defender of the Saudi crown prince (MBS) while he served in the Trump White House.
The DEM-run House Oversight Committee said on June 2, 2022, that it had opened an investigation into whether Kushner had traded on his government position to get the deal.
Now Raskin is pushing the GOP now in charge since 2022, to honor the commitment to investigate Kushner.
How will Kushner react, we
wonder – he will probably pull a Trump and refuse to testify under oath. But,
in this case he must be held to account without any doubt.
We shall see – so, stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by.
