2015 Hope List: See Gov't Cooperate, Work, and Produce

GOP Ready to Take Over and ??????????????

The Last 8 Years

What can we expect in 2015 and 2016 during the last two years under Mr. Obama with the GOP about to be in charge of Congress? My hunch: About as good as yours!!

The 114th Congress will be in session from January 3, 2015 to January 3, 2017 (stopping in 2016 for a White House you know what). The score sheet:

The House: Republicans (under Speaker Boehner) are projected to hold one of their largest majorities in the House of Representatives since 1928 (a margin of 246 to 189 seats).

Historical Note Insert: We all remember what happened between 1928-1929, right: The GOP controlled the 70^th Congress and the White House was run (if that’s the right word) by “Silent” Calvin Coolidge (R). We all know how that turned out or when it all came “crashing” down all along Wall Street in late October 1929, right??? Oops.

The Senate: Republicans (Mitch McConnell majority "leader") will take over from the Democrats with a projected 54-44 (2 Indies) seat advantage. They will virtually control the entire agendas for both the country. Democrats will control the White House under President Obama as well as the nominations for Federal agencies and regulators and USSC justices (if needed).

A simple prediction: it is apt to be very nasty and extremely ugly.

The GOP in various forums has already pledged to block Mr. Obama anywhere, on anything, all the time. Starting with these: 

1. Get rid of Obama-care (repeal the ACA), which will return us back to the future. They have to try and do that to get a "return on the investment" by big business investments in so many of them winning seats.
2. Approve the XL pipeline ... let that damn thing flow and put us energy independent is their rally cry ... damn the outcome of spills, damage to waterways, land, or the air... profits are all that matter.
3. Work on Taxes: we don't need no stinkin' taxes at least for the upper crust. Let the good times roll just like the 1920's ... what possibly would go wrong?
4. Women's health care rights: Nope - no deal, no way!!
5. Voting rights: Hell no!!
6. Good programs like public education and public assistance: Double hell no, let the corporations run the schools and drug test the lazy bums!!
7. Unions and labor rights:  Ha, you're joking, right? Bring back child labor and put those damn kids to work earning their own way.
8. The Environment: Nope - as long as we can breath and the Koch brothers are happy, so what?

So, am I dreaming, hoping, wishing, or just worried sick? Probably a little bit of each. Why - aren't you?

Stay tuned and don't touch that dial. The GOP is taking control of your TV set, life, policy in general, or whatever ... do not make any attempts to adjust the screen — it's futile.
