Trump's World: Falling Around Him in a Huge Pile Due to His Destructive Ways

Make no mistake about it: How he sees himself
(Since January 20, 2017)

How many in his own party see him
(The nation nearly in same bad shape)

Absolutely must-read article from an excellent writer, Heather Digby Parton (she writes under the name Digby at Salon.com and several other places that many may already know).

Her piece reminds us again how bad, awful, and just a down-right pitiful person Donald J. Trump truly is (plus now his own niece expanded on that with first-hand knowledge).

He has left a pile of messes in his wake all the while he brags about himself and always demands others fluff him daily – and along the way he has taking us down to his level.

What level is that you might ask: Well in my opinion it is as low as a snake’s belly and one which we could wear a top hat and walk under it never touch it. Yes, that low both here at home and in the eyes of most foreign leaders as well I suspect.

His constant denial won’t work – not now – not under the terrible crisis we are in and that which may follow from his policy damage. Don’t believe me – just check Trump’s record to date. There is all the proof anyone needs (except for his blind loyalists who ever see or believe it).

Digby points out a lot in her writing in the article. Here is the summary of from that piece. The article is here at Raw Story – and, again, truly a must read.

The story’s introduction:

On Thursday (July 16) the New York Times reported that the United States had set a record for new cases of COVID-19 in one day, with more than 74,000. And the death toll is now surging as well (The AP), although not yet approaching the terrible levels we saw in April. Indeed, the U.S. is one of four countries, including Brazil, South Africa and India that account for more than two-thirds of all the cases on the planet. And we’re No. 1!

Weirdly, despite all this winning, Trump didn’t celebrate this particular achievement. Instead, his minions at the White House arranged for him to host another inappropriate campaign rally at the White House.

This time, instead of having the press line up like a bunch of potted plants they gathered friendly staffers in the Rose Garden to cheer Trump’s incomprehensible rambling and give him the little boost he so desperately needs.

Digby’s summary follows:

I don’t think I need to delineate all the ways in which Trump’s response to the greatest crisis of his presidency fits that description. He blithely continues as he began, believing he can persuade the public that the pandemic isn’t happening so they will party like it’s 2019 and reward him with a second term. Rather than use the power that’s vested in the presidency for its intended purpose — that is, in an emergency — he does virtually nothing, issuing empty threats and confusing messages and essentially making everything worse by failing to act as the system requires of the executive during a crisis. The whole thing falls apart when that vital part of the machine just doesn’t work.

In other words, no one should take heart in the fact that Trump hasn’t used the crisis as a means to consolidate power, as one might expect from such a fundamentally autocratic personality. He isn’t capable of that, but he’s more than capable of the form of illiberal leadership described above, which is every bit as destructive to democracy.

Meanwhile, as usual, Trump keeps issuing hyperbolic, reality-show teasers about all the big things he plans to announce in the future:

And of course Mexico’s going to pay for all of it.

My 2 cents: Nothing to add to this article – except to say please read it and then as I've asked before: Do all you can to help ensure we can vote freely, fairly, and securely in November to rid ourselves of the Trump nightmare. Hopefully that will to enable us to never repeat anything like that again.

Thanks for stopping by.
