Trump and Postmaster General: Full Scale Attack on USPS Slowing Mail Service

Damage by Postmaster Gen. DeJoy: Trump's Lackey
(DeJoy is lockstep with Trump to slow mail delivery)

Introduction to a another huge serious problem: This one comes on top of the virus pandemic, historically high unemployment, and stalemate in Congress with relief to help millions of American get through it all.

That problem now oozing up to the top of the list is Trump’s war on the U.S. Mail, e.g., make it slow down for his selfish political reason: to help him get reelected with stalled mail-in ballot service.

Cite this story – one of many in the news lately:

Donald Trump's campaign to destroy the USPS is working

Since Trump's new Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, has instituted new cuts designed to slow the mail, deliveries are: (1) languishing at postal hubs, (2) more than 330,000 veterans are waiting weeks for prescriptions by mail, (3) many paychecks are delayed, (4) and, bills and payments are missing deadlines thereby threatening people to lose all kinds of services and suffer declination and damage to their credit standing.

So, until and unless Congress acts right now, millions of mail-in ballots could be delayed and left uncounted in the November election.

The post office needs emergency funding now to ensure that it has the capacity to support vote-by-mail and on-time mail delivery in general.

The driving force behind this grand scheme and changes are by the newly-appointed Postmaster General, Louis DeJoy, who just happens to be a bigtime GOP-RNC and Trump fundraiser and donor. Trump rewarded him with the postmaster job in June. Postmaster Generals typically have post office experience and usually stay in place for an extended period. DeJoy is the first person in half a century to lead the office without serving a single day as even a letter carrier.

DeJoy slipped into office with almost no attention from Congress, or from the press but he had Trump support who possibly ordered the USPS board members (all six members were appointed by Trump too, BTW) to give DeJoy the job.

Now DeJoy is enacting Trump's plan by slashing overtime work, in addition to other changes that without any doubt will and already are delaying mail.

Already, the USPS staff already finds itself stretched thin and funds nearly dried up with nearly 40,000 workers out who have had to quarantine after exposure to the virus.

As for DeJoy’s early part: He has directed employees to leave mail behind at distribution centers if it delayed letter carriers from their route.
Note: That alone could actually lead to postal workers violating federal law for purposely delaying the email.

Fact: DeJoy is acting totally to support Trump’s agenda for his reelection. But, such things during this critical time when millions of Americans rely on the USPS, and we cannot allow this Postmaster General to continue to purposefully delay our mail in order to put a buck before one the public’s most-important needs – our mail for so many reasons.

It is hard to believe that Trump and PMG DeJoy would even consider slowing down the U.S. mail.

My 2 cents: Where is Congress on this? Oh, taking another break I see… taking time off while “Rome burns more or” (to coin an old phrase from Nero’s days as Roman Emperor): “He fiddled while Rome burned.”

Our country is basically burning to the ground for so many reasons most of us have lost track of under Trump. Ineffective and non- or pro-active are words that are tailored to him precisely.

Can’t wait for November 3 to come soon enough.

Thanks for stopping by.
