Trump: "Don't Know About QAnon, Never Heard of Them, But They Said They Like Me"

Updated (August 20): QAnon gains Trump support … the story here from Market Watch (via AP) with this headline:

Trump praises QAnon conspiracy theorists, says he appreciates their support

WASHINGTON (August 19) — President Donald J. Trump praised the supporters of QAnon, a convoluted, pro-Trump conspiracy theory, and suggested he appreciates their support of his candidacy.

Speaking during a press conference at the White House, Trump courted the support of those who put stock in the conspiracy theory, saying: “I heard that these are people that love our country.” That was his first public comment on the subject of QAnon.

QAnon has ricocheted around the dark corners of the internet since late 2017, and has been creeping into mainstream politics more and more.

Their baseless theory centers on an alleged anonymous, high-ranking government official known as “Q” who shares information about an anti-Trump “deep state that is often tied to Satanism and child sex trafficking.

Cite: “Pizzagate” in December 2016 that saw a madman heavily armed ready for a wild shooting spree in D.C. that is now getting more attention reported on here from The Atlantic and here from Esquire with 10 key facts.

Trump insisted he hadn’t heard much about the movement saying: “Other than I understand they like me very much and it is gaining in popularity.”

Trump has retweeted QAnon-promoting accounts, and shirts and hats with QAnon symbols and slogans are not uncommon at his rallies.

Noteworthy:

The FBI issued a bulletin in May warning about several conspiracy theory-driven extremist groups that had become domestic terrorism threats. Their bulletin specifically mentioned QAnon.

Earlier last year, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) warned that the movement is becoming increasingly popular with anti-government extremists.

My 2 cents and related story: White House Press secretary Kayleigh McEnany said she and Trump knew nothing about QAnon … however this story nails her raggedy ass in a big lie here from Politico (August 20, 2020) with this headline:

White House press secretary says she's never heard Trump talk about QAnon”

Sub title: The president drew sharp criticism for saying he appreciated support from followers of the conspiracy theory.

The best part is here from that Politico article: The Washington Post reported on an interview (short clip on YouTube) that McEnany conducted with a QAnon supporter at a Trump rally in Las Vegas in February. Kind of proves the kind of liar she truly is, and a pitiful person to boot.

I wonder, is being a skilled liar like Trump a prerequisite  for the job of White House press secretary – sure seems like it is.

McEnany is as pitiful as her boss and most other sycophants around Trump who are all tasked to fluff and stroke him and his ego every single day – that or get insulted and then fired or asked to resign after being insulted – that is the Trump M.O.

Thanks for stopping by.
