“Congress
hits new snag on CoVID relief Bill as shutdown deadline looms”
WASHINGTON — Congress hit a new stumbling block in negotiating a new coronavirus aid deal on Friday (December
18), the latest in a turbulent stretch to end the year as party leaders raced against
a midnight government shutdown (runs out money) deadline.
That roadblock
emerged as Democrats accused Republicans, led by Sen. Pat Toomey (R-PA) of
seeking to hamstring the incoming Biden administration by cutting off Federal Reserve emergency lending facilities created by the
CARES Act to protect the fragile economy.
Democrats want to extend that authority into next year, saying
it is an important tool to respond to an economic crisis the country still
faces.
One senior Democratic aide said: “An agreement was in sight
to deliver aid to the American people until Sen. Toomey and Republicans
inserted an eleventh-hour purely political, unrelated provision to tie Biden’s
hands and risk throwing the economy into a tailspin.”

My 2 Cents: Sound just like the GOP doesn’t it?
Nothing new, but plenty of the same old, same old GOP BS at the last minute. True some DEMS do that, too, but not in this horrible time. Right now we need true bi-partisanship and not last-minute shenanigans like this.
This a very critical point more than at any time in recent memory.
Simple message for Sen. Toomey and those like him: “Back off” and settle this another day. People need relief now, and no more of your selfish crap.
Thanks for stopping by.
