Introduction and Details from the Article:
Being president comes with perks that extend past
their time in the Oval Office. Even though Donald
Trump is no longer in the White House, he’s still
getting benefits courtesy of our taxpayer dollars.

Secret Service
Protection – We all Support:
Former presidents and their spouses are eligible for
lifetime protection from the Secret Service, though the related costs are
classified, according to the National Taxpayers Union Foundation. The
protection also applies to a former president’s children until they are 16. Barron
Trump would be provided until he is that age also.
Now the Trump gimmick or con if you will: Just before
leaving office, Trump extended post-presidency Secret Service protection to his
four adult children and two of their spouses, as well as three key officials,
all for six months following his White House exit. That added security perk alone
for the added family members is expected to cost taxpayers millions of dollars.
Main Point: Trump’s falsehoods about the November 2020 election have left taxpayers with a large and growing bill that totals $519 million as of February 6.
That number accounts for:
(1) legal fees prompted by his dozens of (false) lawsuits, (2) heightened
security in response to death threats against poll workers, (3) repairs needed
after the January 6 insurrection at the U.S. Capitol, and (4) more than $480
million for the estimated cost for the deployment of National Guard troops on
the streets of Washington, D.C. through mid-March.
Noteworthy: The
official costs of Trump’s election fraud claims are still being tallied and may
never be fully known.
More details at the story link above.
My 2 cents: For what it’s worth: Trump’s schemes and overall con is
still working for him now even though he’s no longer in office (but the damage left
in his wake lingers: Ka-ching...)
Thanks for stopping by.
