A much-needed discussion re: FOX’s top blowhard: Tucker
Carlson.
Let’s face it, there is plenty to counter about him as he spreads lies and conspiracy after conspiracy along with a big dose of total nonsense, twisting the facts or smallest snippet from any news story and running wildly
with it to make it fit his crazy agenda which sadly most of his viewers lap up like
a kitten taken to a dish of warm milk.
This background court case sets the scene to show who Carlson truly is
from a legal ruling point of view:
On December 5, 2019, Karen
McDougal, model and one-time Playboy magazine Playmate who had an
affair with Trump in 2006 to 2007, filed a defamation lawsuit against
Fox News.
According to the lawsuit filed, Carlson defamed McDougal by saying that she had personally extorted Trump for the hush money she received in
2016, a claim that she denied.
On September 24, 2020, U.S.
District Judge Mary Kay Vysko (Trump appointee) dismissed the defamation
lawsuit.
She wrote in
part: “The [Carlson] statements are rhetorical hyperbole and opinion
commentary intended to frame a political debate, and, as such, are not
actionable as defamation.”
Then the judge added: “The general tenor of the Fox show should inform
a viewer that he [Carlson] is engaging in ‘exaggeration and non-literal
commentary’ and ‘not stating actual facts’ about the topics he discusses.”
She further wrote: “Fox persuasively argues, that given Mr.
Carlson's reputation, any reasonable viewer 'arrives with an appropriate amount
of skepticism' about the statements he makes.”
Now this excellent story by a military writer about Carlson
ripping into General Mark Milley, Chairman of the JCS, for his comments in
several forthcoming books dealing with Trump. The piece is here
from Task & Purpose with this headline FYI.
“Tucker
Carlson keeps showing that he doesn’t understand the U.S. military”
Thus, don't take Tucker Carlson seriously.
Carlson is a professional
demagogue. That does not mean he is dumb.
He didn’t become the
brightest star in the universe
of misinformation by being dimwitted.
He is an expert in
trafficking falsehoods masquerading as facts.
Even Fox
News’ own attorneys have argued that Carlson should not be taken seriously.
I note: Reading the Fox
attorneys’ comments and such I reach one conclusion – the case was strong,
their argument to make it look weak prevailed and the judge ruled on Fox’s
favor while shaming Carlson along the way – how weak was their argument (read
the article above to see), but in the words of Abraham Lincoln in a court case
he won as a defense attorney, but should not have won, he said the prosecutors
case was weak – how weak he was asked: “As weak as soup made by boiling the
shadow of a pigeon that had starved to death – that weak.”
Still, millions of Americans believe that Carlson is the
Messiah of Candor, even though your average seventh grader knows more about
civil-military relations than he does, as evidenced by what he passes off as
insight on his nightly airing of grievances.
Carlson knows a good story arc when he sees it, and he has become fixated on attacking General Milley, whom Carlson called stupid and a pig.
Milley’s offense was that he was pushing back against Rep. Mike Waltz and Rep.
Matt Gaetz – both Republicans from FL – about
whether the military is indoctrinating troops with critical race theory (CRT).
In the new book Milley claims that he
was concerned that Trump would try to use the military to illegally stay in
power after losing the 2020 election. After hearing that, Carlson now is also is calling for Milley
to be fired.
These statements from
Peter Feaver, a political science professor at Duke University in NC are worthwhile, too:
“While it is reasonable for Carlson to question whether
Milley has made correct decisions and if what he is quoted as saying is
accurate, making Milley “a punching bag for the latest round for partisan
warfare” is harmful to civil-military relations.”
“It is saying that: We will only show respect to the
military if they are fully embracing our partisan agenda. Carlson is also
signaling that if military leaders try to remain apolitical to fulfill their
constitutional obligations, Trump’s followers will unleash “a partisan fury” on
them.”
“Then you have dragged the military into the partisan fight
– and the military is supposed to be outside of that partisan fight because
they had to serve Trump and then they have to serve Biden, and in the future,
they may have to serve another Republican president. And so, they have to be
trusted to serve regardless of the party of the president.”
My 2 Cents: Read the full article to get the full picture of just how awful Tucker Carlson is – just like Trump: He gets viewers hooked and clinging to his craziness with the skill of a very convincing con man just like Trump.
General Milley is a dignified Army officer, smart, honest, open, and very loyal to the county and is oath of office. Tucker Carlson is a bully and blowhard liar.
BTW: Carlson's annual salary at Fox: $6 million.
That is the bottom line on how this Trump election “Big Lie” (any lie in fact) keeps spreading, growing more and more, and becoming easier and easier for Trump loyalists to believe and trust him.
But also, it's the most
dangerous part when it hides the real truth and facts of any issue being spread in the form of a lie while passing for the truth.
A lot of good info in the main article – enjoy.
