This
daily Newsweek series explores the steps that led to the January 6
Capitol Riot – their latest has this headline – an excellent read:
“Trump Supporters Targeted the Capitol: Bring
Guns. It's Now or Never”
The Capitol Police intelligence division issued a 7-page report on December 21 containing the first specifics regarding a threat to the Capitol building itself. It was an alarming forecast, surveying social media postings about the upcoming protest, a build-up that one might think for extraordinary measures in the face of threats of violence and taking over the Capitol building. That alarming report title is “Investigative Research and Analysis Report (21-TD-159).”
It highlighted a posting on thedonald.win blog site (now defunct) which referenced tunnels on Capitol grounds used by Members of Congress (and particularly important for continuity of government evacuations).
The report attached an underground map of the Capitol campus
that was posted online with this note: “There are tunnels connected to the
Capitol Building! Legislators use them to avoid press, among other things! Take
note.”
The report then went to flag several comments “promote
confronting members of Congress and carrying firearms during the protest.”
The report also contained approximately 30 screen shots of
comments on thedonald.win site, including:

“Bring guns. It's now or never.”
ü
“Surround every building with a tunnel
entrance/exit. They better dig a tunnel all the way to China if they want to
escape.”
ü
“Exactly, forget the tunnels. Get into Capitol
Building, stand outside congress. Be in the room next to them. They won’t have
time to run if they play dumb.”
ü
“Deploy [sic] Capitol Police to restrict [their]
movement. Anyone going armed needs to be mentally prepared to draw down on
LEOs. Let them shoot first, but make sure they know what happens if they do.”
ü
“If they don't show up, we enter the Capitol as
the Third Continental Congress and certify the Trump Electors.”
ü
“If a million patriots who show up bristling
with AR's [AR-15 rifles], just how brave do you think they'll be when it comes to
enforcing their unconstitutional laws? Don't cuck out. This is do or die.”
ü
“Bring your guns.”
The report also referenced
this note: “Secure communications were likely to be used by protestors,” and
well as the use of “Signal and Wickr.”
The report listed a
variety of so-called “Patriot Organizations” that were expected to show up on
January 6, including: The Proud
Boys (with this related
article), and the
Oath Keepers (largest domestic terrorist group in the country).
My Note: Recall
this Trump “Proud Boys” moment during his 2016 presidential debate with
Joe Biden monitored by Fox’s Chris Wallace – astonishing is Trump’s reply concerning
that group.
My 2 Cents: I’ve posted on these and other so-called patriot militia groups many times.
They are a threat and clear and present danger to our
very survival as the country we say we stand with. Those group claims are
false, misguided, and just flat out wrong. They call themselves “patriots” – but,
they are anything but. A sad state affairs now exists in our country.
At the center is Donald J.
Trump – the planner of all we have seen in the recent past – the groups mentioned
above and others all worship him out of their raw hatred for many things:
Democrats mostly, democracy as a whole, law and order, peace and justice, and
all that is good and decent about America with all their tainted and slanted
views that can only be described as 100% un-American by any measurement.
Still dark days are still
in front of us (like
this recent attack in Nashville, TN) or at least until Trump is put in
prison and the people stuck on him finally realize just how horrible a person
he truly is.
