Rising Star or Falling Weasel, Um ... Darn Choices

Gov. Piyush "Bobby" Jindal (R-LA)

Headlines at some sites (like the Ticket at Yahoo): "Jindal takes on Obama, challenges GOP to redefine the party..."

How soon the GOP expects the public to forget this man's performance (then and now), which I have to say is pretty pathetic. Recall that in 2009, Jindal was nearly laughed off the national stage when he delivered the official Republican response to Obama's first address to a joint session of Congress. Jindal's "response," consisting of restrained rhetoric spoken awkwardly into a single camera, was universally panned as a dud. Some even called it a career killer. But, as they say, he's baaaaack!!!

Now claiming to be a "Rising Star" (I hate that label). Rising Stars have a tendancy to quickly burn out and become a cinder(blockhead) -- Jindal is a classic example. He seems now fits the Hollywood mold of a Paris Hilton, Lindsay Lohan, or one of the Kardashians as he tries to remodel himself probably for run in 2016. However, he cannot escape his past - although I am sure he will try - like this little exposé from Mother Jones - re: "14 Wacky "Facts" Kids Will Learn in Louisiana's Voucher Schools" (that Jindal signed into law).

Jindal believes this stuff even as he now says to the GOP at their Winter meeting, more like Winter Retreat, things like:

"We've got to stop being the stupid party."
"It's time for a new Republican Party that talks like adults."
"We had a number of Republicans damage the brand this year with offensive and bizarre comments. I'm here to say we've had enough of that."

Throughout his 25-minute speech, Jindal rebutted Obama's defense earlier this week for a robust and active federal government and offered a counter philosophy focused on growing private businesses beyond Washington without relying on the engine of the federal government.

"We must lay out the contrast between liberalism’s top-down government solutions and our bottom-up real world philosophy. We believe in creating abundance, not redistributing scarcity. We should let the other side try to sell Washington’s ability to help the economy, while we promote the entrepreneur, the risk-taker, the self-employed woman who is one sale away from hiring her first employee. Let the Democrats sell the stale power of more federal programs, while we promote the rejuvenating power of new businesses," he concluded. (Bottom-up real world philosophy - yepper, 2012 outcome sure put them at the bottom - right where they belong - I wonder if he studied the election results - probably not).

Wow — he has seen the light — or maybe felt the heat. Jindal is as phony as Marco Rubio in FL. Hey, maybe they will form a 2016 team "Two Weasels R Better Than One" and run together. Oh, please, oh, please, bring 'em on — let be so.
