Gun Store Operators Also Politically Savvy Weasels

Background Checks: Gun Store Bonanza

We are about to find out whether a new law (national background checks) is a boom for gun sales and gun store owners or not. What an irony if it is. The story is highlighted here.

A Senate proposal to expand criminal background checks to people who buy firearms at gun shows and online would increase sales at traditional gun stores, many retailers agree — and perhaps even hand licensed dealers a “sweetheart” boon that amounts to “an Obama tax,” according to one industry leader stated this way:

"The bipartisan plan to broaden background checks — fueled by anger from the mass shooting in Newtown, CT, as well as the gun-control push from the Obama Administration — would “bring a lot of money” to the bricks-and-mortar gun sellers, predicts Andrew Molchan, director of the National Association of Federally Licensed Firearms Dealers, which has about 1,000 members."

Another fine example of why the Senate moves so slowly. They pretend it's to "get it right" when in fact they want to make sure all their special interests are protected who end up filling their campaign coffers.

Their slogan for the 2014 midterms could very well be: "Who's in your wallet?" © (My effort)
