GOP Anger Since 1935 With Social Security Until Obama-care

GOP "Play of the Day" With Obama-care

For the GOP it's a game of give and take. DEMS give and the GOP takes.

The GOP has hated any kind of public assistance or Federal program since the early days of FDR introducing Social Security (1935) and Harry Truman introducing Medicare (1965) and today with the ACA (called Obama-care) (2010), a lot in between and since. In short the GOP hates government. So why do so many of them want to serve in government?

We've heard it all – slick Ads with and clever lines and catchy phrases:

  • It “is a cruel hoax and a delusion”
  • It “is the beginning of socialized medicine”
  • It “will lead to “deteriorating services”
  • It “will place bureaucrats in privacy of the examination room”
  • It “will put government between you and your doctor”
  • It “will put us on the road to rationed care”
  • It “cause patients to lose the freedom to choose their own doctor”
  • It “will establish death panels”
  • It “will allow DEMS will throw granny off a cliff”
Trouble is it’s all fake, phony, and unreal. For example, if the GOP were to achieve a simple goal of implementing their brand of “choice” but doesn't that take away choice, too, and mostly for women. I guess GOP control is better than any other kind of control, right??

The GOP is full nasty habits and so much so that they can’t even reason about anything decent and worthwhile. They are not about fixing anything to ensure things work for the general good. Rather for them, it’s easier to complain that cooperate; easier to rant than repair; and gripe rather that coming to grips with reality whether it’s about health care reform or anything else worthwhile.

It's not just health care today, either. It is a long string of programs ever since Social Security that the GOP has hated and wanted to toss in the trashcan (and usually without any good alternatives): Take away or cut WIC, Food Stamps, Public Education, Unions, Public Service, the GI Bill, Vet benefits, a Woman's Right to Choose, and Voting Rights just to name a few good working programs.
