David Wildstein (under oath) vs. Gov. Christie (soothsayer)
The biggest on-going political news since the GOP voted 44
times to repeal the ACA health care law (Obama-care): New Jersey
Bridge-gate (every scandal is a "gate" ever since 1974 it
seems).
Up-to-date as of now: The investigation into the George
Washington Bridge
gridlock is now in high gear.
A lot of subpoenas have been issued or in the process on top
of the hiring of counsel and the formation of special legislative committees. Twelve individuals and the governor's office had been
identified as having been served with documents-only subpoenas due on February
3.
The Christie insiders served: Chief of Staff and Attorney
General nominee Kevin O'Dowd; Chief Counsel Charles McKenna; lead spokesman
Michael Drewniak; another spokesman, Colin Reed; Communications Director Maria
Comella; O'Dowd's expected successor, Regina Egea; and two other staffers,
Christina Genovese and Evan Ridley.
One subpoena was directed to Bill Stepien, who managed both
of Christie's gubernatorial campaigns.
Former Deputy Chief of Staff Bridget Kelly, author of the
infamous “time for some traffic problems in Fort Lee ”
email, is also expected to be served with a subpoena (she was fired on January
9).
Port Authority figures subpoenaed were chairman David Samson
of Wolff & Samson in West Orange, former director of interstate capital
projects David Wildstein, who implemented the closures, and former deputy
executive director Bill Baroni.
Wildstein and Baroni are Christie appointees who have
already been subpoenaed and called to testify. Both resigned in December 2013.
One thing about a subpoena – the person receiving it will be
sworn to tell the truth and under oath.
Now the Gov's office (in another email) just came
out with the subject: "Bottom line - David Wildstein will do and say
anything to save David Wildstein." It even goes as far back the
Wildstein high school days. How low is that vis-à-vis the current mess?
Anyone besides me see zero, none, nada, zip, no connection
to the whether the Gov knew, knows, or didn't about this mess?
