“Shush Fund" (Hush-Slush): Taxpayers Fund Harassment and Discrimination Claims

Involving Present or Former Members and/or their Staff

Paid with public tax dollars and w/o our approval or knowledge

Congressional word of the day: “Shush” fund (word is combo of the words “hush” and “slush”) – taxpayer’s money used to fund to pay off sexual harassment and other discrimination claims between 1997 and 2017 as authorized by Congress in 1995.

Congress has been paying off sexual harassment the last 20 years to date to the tune of some $17 million. That “shush fund” has allowed members of Congress and their staff to keep doing what they do without accountability.

Rep. Jackie Speier (D-CA) broke this news recently otherwise we would not have found out about this unless she had told the public.

The major headline

FYI: Divide number of cases by the total amount to see approximate individual payoff amounts.

Note: Congressional shush money is apparently paid quickly. So, imagine how long it takes in civil cases – probably years.

As I note, we the public – the taxpayers fit the bill for their shenanigans.

The B/L on this issue is pretty simple: We the public need to know which members or congressional employees were involved (by name, year, amount paid) and from which state or district they are from, or which they represented in the past as a former member or employee.

So, contact your Rep. and Sen. and push them to release the names, dates, times, and amounts paid and ASAP.

Thanks for stopping by.
