Next Move: U.S. to play catch up with billions
more in the same R&D
Need something
scary for today – okay – well, how about hypersonic nuclear missiles and
assorted other weapons?
Background
to Date: Researchers and Engineers at the Rand Corporation explain that
a hypersonic weapon is a missile that travels at Mach 5 or higher, which is at
least five times faster than the speed of sound, and that means in simple terms,
it can travel about one mile per second.
Speed is the
new stealth missiles are something that both Russia and China are aggressively
pursuing and we have watched them test those capabilities – so says our top
nuclear General (Air
Force General John Hyten, Commander, U. S. Strategic Command). He would
be the one who would launch our own nuclear missiles if so ordered during an
attack, or to preemptively stop an attack.
My input for what it’s
worth: Add this with
the on-going pressure from North Korea and Trump’s sustained tit-for-tat back
and forth nuclear war talk is unnerving to say the least.
So, what’s the next
step – um choices are slim-to-none appear to be: (1) total disarmament of all nuclear
weapons (2) certainly a sustained effort for nuclear non-proliferation of existing
weapons, or in the end, (3) or I guess, all-out nuclear war – then the question
is who goes first and who survives? Who goes first is the wild card – who survives?
Probably no one on Earth – dramatic – yes, it is but so is nuclear war on a
grand scale in incomprehensible.
The focus now that this is more public knowledge
shifts to Trump and our R&D to play catch-up. So, stay tuned.
Thanks for stopping by.
