The W.I.C. (Weasel-in-Charge) Again: Degrades and Downgrades American Leadership

Chief Liar and Con-Artist in the Middle: His GOP Enablers
(or Culprits) Along for the Ride

Trump, as everybody knows, fancies himself a master deal maker. But so far, Trump has mostly dismantled deals made by others, while clinching hardly any deals of his own.

See the laundry list below – not pretty – not one bit as seen in this fine report and below. Call it “The Dirty Dozen.

1.     Trump just pulled the United States out of the deal President Obama made in 2015 to halt Iran’s nuclear weapons program
2.     He has also pulled the United States out of the Trans Pacific Partnership (TPP).
3.     He pulled the U.S. out of the Paris climate accord
4.     Trump is undoing an agreement the Obama administration made with automakers to set fuel-economy standards through 2025.
5.     He rescinded Obama’s deferred-action program for so-called “dreamers” (DACA) who were brought to the United States illegally as children.
6.     He killed a few features of the Affordable Care Act (ACA), while failing to repeal the law in full, as he promised to do while campaigning.
7.     While Trump seems particularly hostile to Obama deals, he’s also undoing a trade regime established by predecessors of both parties.
8.     He has imposed tariffs on steel and aluminum imports, including, possibly, those from friendly nations.
9.     He has laid additional tariffs on some Chinese imports and threatened to expand the levies to a much broader set of Chinese goods.
10.     He’s also revamping the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), which he says he’ll also pull out of if he doesn’t get his way.
11.    So what deals has Trump closed? He managed to pass sizable tax cuts, but more specifically and especially for big businesses.
12.    He also modified a trade deal with South Korea (KORUS FTA).

My 2 Cents:  Many of those critical agreements and treaties and such are still in effect but now, all without the United States having any standing or any voice.

Well, that’s about it – “Art of the Deal” – ha – more like “Art of the Con” as I’ve said for very long time – proof, meet pudding (list above serious examples).

What other and more serious damage is he planning – we will have to wait and see – stay tuned.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
