Wednesday, January 6, 2021: Mean, Ugly, and Dangerous — “Second Day of Infamy”

Proof Meet Pudding: The event in real pictures.

Prepping for the day’s events

Peaceful entrance to the Capitol

Undisciplined, some vandalism, most like normal tourists

Podium erected just for VP Pence

Were not armed and I mean w/o guns
(Except in Michigan & Pittsburg)

Wednesday, January 6, 2021: Storming the Capitol to “Stop the Steal” for Trump and keep him in office by stopping the official Electoral College final vote certification overseen by VP Mike Pence – very good analysis of events here from ABC News (from January 8 article) – edited to fit the blog with this headline:

Trump allies helped plan, promote rally that led to Capitol attack

The president urged a sea of supporters to march to the Capitol.

In the days before the violent mob of Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol building on January 6, 2021, President Donald J. Trump's  political apparatus worked behind the scenes with pro-Trump groups to plan and promote events in Washington, D.C., that ultimately led to that attack on the nation's Capitol in Washington, DC.

Speaking at the “March to Save America” rally at the Ellipse in President's Park, Trump urged a sea of supporters to march to the Capitol in protest of the Electoral College vote count – telling the crowd he'd join them but ultimately he did not – after delivering a speech pushing baseless and unfounded claims that the election was rigged and telling the rowdy crowd in typical Trump-speak: “You'll never take back our country with weakness. You have to show strength.”

That Trump order sent thousands of his supporters marching to the Capitol, where some would overpower law enforcement, topple barricades, and then riot inside the halls of Congress in an unprecedented attack that left five people dead.

While the rally was publicly promoted as being organized by groups not directly tied to the president's team, including “Women for America First” and “Stop the Steal,” behind the scenes White House staff and close allies of the president, including former Trump campaign staff, worked with the organizers to plan and promote the events that would ultimately erupt into the deadly storming of the Capitol.

My 2 cents: Now we will wait and watch the soon-to-be appointed January 6 commission (like the 9/11 independent commission) to set the record straight and hopefully finally calling for Donald J. Trump to be held accountable for his not so subtle incitement speech (his precise words – not mine), and then his inaction to stop it.

Still today his continued denial, purpose, and intent to raise a lot of money for the purpose of setting up his run in 2024. That has fast-growing GOP support by many in Congress as reflected by their collective denials and crazy statements downplaying that horrible day.

Thanks for stopping by.
