Anti-Vaxxers vs. Majority: FL Leads as Gov DeSantis Blames Everyone for His Errors

Spotlight on FL: DeSantis Acting like Trump

It's the numbers Gov. DeSantis now stand in shame

Proud of these numbers (many GOP-run states)
(They saw the light or felt the heat)

Vaccinated people vs. Anti-Vaxxers – update report and numbers here from the CDC via a CNN report with this headline:

“U.S. coronavirus: Tens of thousands of vaccinated people may catch Covid-19. The unvaccinated are a big highway of transmission experts say”

Highlights from CNN:

Tens of thousands of vaccinated people may catch COVID-19, but the majority will not fall severely ill – a testament to the efficacy of inoculations even against the Delta variant that has been fueling case surges across the United States.

From CDC Director, Dr. Rochelle Walensky speaking on CNN:The severity of the illness, not the number of people who contract the virus, is a crucial concept for people to understand at this point in the pandemic. I think we all have to recognize that with 164 million people who are vaccinated, we should expect tens of thousands, perhaps, of *breakthrough infections. But, those infections have a mild illness. They are staying out of the hospital. They are not dying, and I think that that's the most important thing to understand.”

*Breakthrough cases: They occur when the virus infects fully vaccinated people.

As the virus Delta variant rips through all across the country, it is especially devastating regions with low vaccination rates as experts and government officials nationwide urge people to get their shots before a dire situation gets even worse.

Noteworthy: As of Friday (August 6), 50% of the U.S. population had been fully vaccinated according to White House Data Director Dr. Cyrus Shahpar said in a tweet.

The fully vaccinated percentage out of the population eligible for the vaccine, that is people 12 and older, was 58.4% as of Thursday (August 5) according to the CDC.

Full vaccination is necessary for optimal protection especially against the highly contagious Delta variant, which now has accounted for an estimated 93.4% of all cases in the U.S. in the two weeks ending July 31.

Story continues here.

My 2 Cents: Now much to add except to simply say: Get the vaccine and help save a life – possibly yours, a loved one, or even a total stranger.

Seems more and more of the Anti-vaxxers have seen the light so to speak and that’s why the numbers are looking better.

But a word of caution too, based on this story from WWL Radio in New Orleans with this headline:

“COVID Lambda variant now in Louisiana from Texas”

Now as the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues to surge across the state of Louisiana, a new threat has been identified as doctors have now reported the Lambda variant has been diagnosed in patients in Louisiana (reports WBRZ-TV in Baton Rouge) from Houston where it was first detected.

Thanks for stopping by.
