Define Crybaby Hypocrites: In Simple Terms That's Easy-Peasy: House GOP Majority

Hunter Biden’s woes linked to President Biden
(Giuliani said: Lots of theories just no evidence”)

Major Update from NEWSWEEK here: Rep. James Comer (R-KY), chairman of the GOP House Oversight Committee, said (as usual) on FOX with Maria Bartiromo, which he intends to call both Hunter Biden and President Joe Biden to testify before his committee, after completing more transcribed interviews with other witnesses.

FYI: Only three sitting Presidents have ever testified before Congressional committees (all voluntarily, too): (1) Abraham Lincoln in 1862, (2) Woodrow Wilson in 1919, and (3) Gerald Ford in 1974 (he wanted to tell Congress why he pardoned Nixon after he resigned from office after and due to Watergate).

Also, after he left office, the House January 6 committee subpoenaed Trump to describe his role in efforts to overturn his 2020 election loss. Trump refused and the committee never secured his testimony.

Comer’s investigation has focused on money Hunter Biden made from Ukrainian and Chinese businesses while Joe Biden was then Vice President under Obama.

Comer’s investigation hasn’t shown any instance in which Joe Biden received money from Hunter Biden’s business or made policy decisions because of his son’s influence.

Also, as I posted before is that Comer committee recently heard from Devon Archer, Hunter Biden’s longtime business partner, who testified that Hunter Biden repeatedly gave the impression while implying to business associates that he had access to his father while he was Vice President (when he did not). Joe Biden would often call Hunter back while he was in business meetings. Hunter would put his father on the speaker phone for greetings and such and nothing else.

My 2 Cents: Archer testified that during those calls, Joe Biden spoke in generalities and didn't talk business. While those exchanges allowed Hunter Biden to show that he was close to his father and gave the impression he could influence him, Archer said he never heard Joe Biden discuss any business dealings on those calls.

B/L: An old Marine term we used say: “Comer is trying to piss up rope.”

Obviously, there ain’t no there, there. So, give it up, Mr. Comer - wake up to reality and not stop the Trump-generated MAGA hyped BS.

MAIN ARTICLE CONTINUES BELOW:

This post is related to the excellent article from CNBC regarding this subject definition of hypocrisy with their headline story (formatted to fit the blog):

“House Republicans are furious about Hunter Biden special counsel”

·  Republicans in Congress railed against AG Merrick Garland's decision to appoint Republican David Weiss as special counsel to oversee the criminal investigation of Hunter Biden.

·  Special counsels are not required to keep Congress updated on the status of their work, leading to fears that the move would effectively halt congressional probes of the president's son.

·  House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) warned that the special counsel should not be used to “whitewash the Biden family.”

The story with this ironic GOP hypocritical introduction:

After more than two years of demanding that the Justice Department appoint a special counsel to investigate Hunter Biden, Republicans in Congress finally got their wish on Friday. And they were furious.

Reactions from the GOP began pouring in within minutes of AG Garland's announcement on Friday (August 11) of a special counsel to oversee the criminal investigation of President Joe Biden's son, Hunter Biden.

McCarthy tweeted:If Weiss negotiated the sweetheart deal that couldn't get approved, how can he be trusted as a Special Counsel?”

McCarthy further said:The decision to appoint David Weiss, a federal prosecutor in Delaware who was assigned by former President Donald Trump to lead the criminal investigation into Hunter Biden, cannot be used to obstruct congressional investigations or whitewash the Biden family corruption.”

FYI: Special counsels occupy a unique position within the legal system. They traditionally operate outside of the DOJ chain of command and the congressional oversight that accompanies it.

Special counsels are required to produce final reports on the results of their investigations for the attorney general, but they are not required to keep Congress or the DOJ updated on the status of their work.

The appointment of the special counsel came as Republicans in Congress ramp up political attacks and investigations of the entire Biden family ahead of the 2024 election.

Republicans argued that a special counsel probe would effectively draw a curtain around evidence they are seeking.

Background with other GOP reactions:

The Hunter Biden plea agreement called for him to plead guilty to two criminal counts: (1) failing to pay his taxes (in 2017 and 2018) in return for prosecutors recommending a sentence of probation, and (2) the dismissal of a separate gun charge in two years. The deal was scrapped earlier this month after a judge determined the agreements contained “some atypical provisions.”

The PAC backing Trump, MAGA, Inc. spokesperson, Karoline Leavitt said in a statement: The fix is in. David Weiss cut Hunter Biden an unprecedented plea deal that attempted to give Joe Biden's corrupt son blanket immunity. Now, Merrick Garland expects us to trust Weiss to be the Special Counsel that finally brings Hunter Biden to justice.”

Rep. James Comer (R-KY), the Chairman of the House Oversight and Accountability Committee jointly looking into the federal probe of the younger Biden's taxes, accused the DOJ of a Biden family cover-up saying in a statement: “Let's be clear what today's move is really about. The Biden DOJ trying to stonewall congressional oversight as we have presented evidence to the American people.”

Rep. Jim Jordan (R-OH), the GOP House Judiciary Committee chairman who has taken the lead on investigating the federal probe of Hunter Biden, said: “Weiss can't be trusted.”

Russell Dye, a spokesman for Jordan also said:This is just a new way to whitewash the Biden family's corruption. The committee still expects the DOJ to fully cooperate with our investigation into Hunter Biden's plea deal, including not interfering with the 11 transcribed interviews that have been requested. Moreover, the Weiss previous offer to appear before the committee this fall is still presumed to be valid.”

Note: As of Friday, the panel had not received anything from DOJ indicating it is no longer willing to do so.

My 2 Cents: How much more hypocritically wishy-washy can this GOP get over this issue (now after 5 years of investing Hunter Biden) – kinda reminds of us of Hillary Clinton’s emails investigation that killed her chances in 2016 against Trump that went nowhere except taint her – sound familiar?

This article proves my point and reinforces my premise about the raw hatred and hypocrisy of this GOP right now. They seem to have this attitude about the damage they have and inflicted since 2022:

Hard to disprove this fact isn't it

This is related to Comer and his attitude about the failures: We got nothing, but we’re still looking.” That even after they failed in their three previous “bombshell witnesses who two failed in their testimony, or one fleeing prosecution (Gal Luft) and now on the run.”

My earlier posts are here, here, here, and here about Comer’s gimmicks and failures.

Stay tuned – it’s gonna get a lot uglier down the road with this GOP doing anything to prop up and help Trump get back in power.

As always, thanks for stopping by.
