Gaza Hospital Bombing: Rep. Tlaib Wrongly Blamed Israel & GOP Wants Her Censured

Emotional & Dramatic Speech Against Censure
(Outstanding rebuttal - congrats to her)

The story: Rep. Rich McCormick (R-GA) filed a new motion pushing for the censure resolution that would punish Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D-MI) for her comments while maintaining her First Amendment rights.

His resolution chastised her for her remarks in the days following the Hamas attack, particularly her comments blaming Israel for a deadly airstrike on the al-Ahli Gaza Baptist hospital October 18 that killed 50 people and wounded numerous.

Palestinian officials put the death toll at 471

An Israeli official has said the toll appeared to be “several dozen.”

U.S. intelligence reports estimate that the number of those killed to be “probably at the low end of the 100 to 300.”

First, this from NBC News:

TEL AVIV — The U.S. has assessed that the deadly blast at a Gaza hospital was most likely caused by a misfired rocket from Palestinian Islamic Jihad, according to two U.S. officials and a congressional staffer. The group has been designated a terrorist organization by the U.S.

NBC News consulted four military and munitions experts: One agreed with the U.S. assessment, which President Joe Biden hinted at during his recent trip to Israel, the other three agreed the blast wasn’t from Israel.

The experts were shown parts of more than a dozen videos and pictures from the incident at the al-Ahli Baptist Hospital and its aftermath that have been geo-located and analyzed by NBC News.

Some said the marks left by the projectile aren’t consistent with the weaponry Israel has used recently.

The analysis of the experts and U.S. officials, however, is likely to do little to stanch the anger felt across the Arab world, which gives credence to the version of events put forward by Palestinian officials and Hamas, and that is: Israel hit the hospital and killed hundreds of civilians in a deliberate act.

Based on the above and the following earlier reporting, Rep. Tlaib’s remarks are wrong and she needs to say she was wrong based on the facts:

* Most-recently, Italian Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani, joined other nations and said on news channel TG-24 that the bombing of the hospital was not caused by a missile fired by Israel.

* Israel denied the reports saying the blast was caused by a Palestinian rocket falling short after being launched at Israel.

* Palestinian officials in Gaza blame the bombing on an Israeli strike while the Israeli army said it was caused by an errant rocket fired by the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (who has denied the assertion).

The Israeli account is now has been supported by U.S., French, Italian, and Canadian analyses supporting the Israeli version.

My 2 Cents: Rep. Tlaib was wrong as well as many others in their early assessments of what happened and who to blame.

In her tearful House floor speech (4-minutes) she said in part: “I will not be silenced as the only Palestinian n American serving in Congress. My perspective is needed here now more than ever. I will not be silenced, and I will not let you distort my words.” (A must-watch video).

The facts are out there as stated above.

Rep. Tlaib needs to apologize for her mistake, and the House GOP needs to drop their censure of her.

People make mistakes in time war like this and as the time-proven guote by Civil War General William Tecumseh said: War is Hell.”

All that matter are the facts as they are outlined above. Any rush to judgement and lay the blame or quick finger pointing causes harm than good.

Any quick judgement is totally wrong, too and for political gain – and that makes it even worse.

Thanks for stopping by.
