Major update on anti-immigration policy forthcoming if Trump
returns to the White House as reported on here from POLITICO
with this White House response to recent Trump “2025 Plan” headline news:
“Biden campaign slams extreme and racist Trump immigration plans”
Background: My previous story on this same issue sets the scene and reinforces this current Trump plan which the above update on Trump’s plans if he wins in 2024 under his so-called “Project 2025” plan addresses.
Very interesting and most-enlightening article which
confirms what many of us have known for a very long time concerning the racist
anti-immigrant hypocrite with a lot of power and influence over Trump that Stephen
Miller, both 100% racist.
First this key quote from Politico that I addressed earlier:
“As free Americans, and
descendants of immigrants and refugees, we have the obligation to exercise our
conscience by voting for candidates who will stand up for our highest national
values and not succumb to our lowest fears. How do I know a lot about Stephen
Miller? Because I am his uncle.”
From David S. Glosser
in that Politico article (August 13, 2018).
Also, a related article from Slate:
The White House is actively considering plans that could
again separate parents and children at the US-Mexico border, hoping to reverse
soaring numbers of families attempting to cross illegally into the United
States.
One option under consideration is the so-called “Binary
Choice” in which the government detains asylum-seeking families together for up
to 20 days, then give parents a choice:
(1) — to stay in
family detention with their child for months or years as their immigration case
proceeds,
(2) — to allow
children to be taken to a government shelter so other relatives or guardians
can seek custody.
This but one of several others under consideration amid the
president’s frustration over border security. Trump has been unable to fulfill
key promises to build a border wall and end what he calls “catch and release,” the
program under Obama in which most detained families are quickly freed to await
immigration hearings.
Miller advocated for tougher measures because he believes the springtime separations worked as an effective deterrent to illegal crossings.
Recall at least 2,500 children were taken from their parents over a
period of six weeks. Crossings by families declined slightly in May, June, and
July before surging again in August. September numbers are expected to be even
higher.
Some inside the White House and DHS were concerned about the
“optics and political blowback of renewed separations,” but Miller was determined
to act.
Now the specifics about Miller to review who he really is as
I said from the man who knows him best – his uncle:
Trump and Miller wanted to make us believe that these desperate migrants are an existential threat to the United States; the most powerful nation in world history and a nation made strong by immigrants.
Trump
and Miller both know their own immigrant and refugee roots. Yet, they repeated
the insults and false accusations of earlier generations against refugees now to
make them seem less than human. Trump publicly paraded grieving families hurt or
killed by migrants, just as Nazis dredged up Jewish criminals to frighten and enrage
their political base to justify total Jewish persecution.
Almost every American family has an immigration story of its
own based on flight from war, poverty, famine, persecution, fear, or
hopelessness. Most of these immigrants became workers, entrepreneurs,
scientists, and soldiers of America.
Most damning was and remained the Trump’s administrations
evident intent to make policy that specifically disadvantages people based on
their ethnicity, country of origin, and religion.

that same riveting story:

Hypocrite (SecondNexusUs)

Now the POLITICO update cited above (formatted to fit the blog):
The Biden campaign on Saturday lambasted Donald Trump’s reported plans for an extreme and rapid expansion of his first-term clampdown on immigration if he takes back the White House. If Trump were to win in 2024, he intends to re-implement many of his first-term policies, including the so-called Muslim ban and the use of Title 42 to turn away asylum seekers.
He also wants to deport migrants by the millions per year, detaining them in large camps while they await expulsion (New York Times report).
Trump
also wants to end birthright citizenship for children born to undocumented
immigrants, among other hardline policies.
Biden spokesperson Ammar Moussa said: “Mass detention camps,
denying children born here their citizenship, uprooting families, and mass
deportations are horrifying reality awaits the public if Trump is allowed back
in power. His extreme, racist, and cruel policies are again the product him and
his henchman Stephen Miller, meant to stoke national fear and division betting
that is how Trump he wins.”
Trump has repeatedly hinted at these plans at political rallies, where he typically talks at length about the southern border.
Stephen Miller, a senior aide who crafted many of
Trump’s first-term policies, is once again heavily involved in the planning,
according to the Times. Trump’s campaign didn’t immediately respond to a
request for comment.
So, immigration will again be a political lightning rod in 2024: The Biden administration has faced similar struggles as the Trump administration to contain surging migration levels, and the Republican field has seized on the border as a base-rallying issue, proposing bombing Mexico to stop cartels and using deadly force against migrants suspected of drug trafficking.
Congress has made little progress in rebuilding an outdated
system unable to manage the crisis, and negotiations on the Hill to pass
Biden’s national security supplemental package have added another challenging
layer as Republicans hang money for Ukraine and Israel on border policy
changes.
Biden is facing bubbling political pressure within his own
party, as immigration groups and progressives urge the president to not concede
any long-lasting policy changes
Immigration groups often point to Biden’s rhetoric in 2020, when he talked about restoring the asylum system decimated under the Trump administration.
On his first day in the White
House, Biden sent a bill to overhaul the immigration system, but it never moved
in Congress.
Unable to deliver the major reform he once promised, Biden
has spent his presidency combatting criticism from not only Republicans, but
from Democrats who have criticized his reimplementation of Trump-era
policies, such as the so-called transit ban.
While Biden’s denouncement of Trump administration policies
was central to his 2020 message, it’s not yet clear how often the president
will talk about immigration this time.
But it is clear that his campaign will continue to seize on
opportunities to contrast the president with any leading GOP challenger with
Moussa concluding: “The American people chose unity over division and hope over
fear in 2020 when they elected Joe Biden and Kamala Harris and sent Donald
Trump packing, and they'll do it again next year.”
My 2 Cents: I hope I tied
the two pieces together into a comprehensive story that is or will be quickly
growing and probably growing out of shape and the way Trump has to falsely sell
it.
We still have whole year
to go until the 2024 election arrives, and a lot of trash and lies and
craziness will keep flowing from Trump and Miller on this critical issue – and don’t
expect the GOP side of congress to help this problem – they talk a lot and act
very little –all the while Trump shouts his trash from the roof tops.
Stay tuned as always.
Thanks for stopping by.
