The above do not warrant further explanation ... and quite frankly they cannot be disputed at least with a straight face.
Their assault on voting rights, women, health care (Obama-care), minorities in general, seniors, college students, and yes, even Vets.
Highlights from the latest House vote (September 20, 2013) and more here:
Even as many perceive a civil war within the Republican Party about how to deal with budget issues and Obama-care nothing in that narrative betrays the degree to which the GOP continues to march in lock-step when it comes to pushing austerity economic policies that insulate society's richest while pushing draconian cuts to programs and services that help workers, the elderly, the young, and the sick (e.g., recent Food Stamp cuts).
Calling it a "victory for America" and a "victory for common sense," House Speaker Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) emerged after the vote to celebrate the GOP's budget resolution. He was greeted with cheers from his caucus members (mostly heavy TEA drinkers).
The FOX report (or spin) on the latest is here (I like to present all sides and views).
CBS News is here (see my fairness).
The deadline looms and the GOP doesn't care – not one bit.
For them, it politics as usual. President Obama's comments underscore the mood
of the country:
Mr. Obama praised the Senate for passing a spending bill to
keep the federal government operating and called House GOP efforts to tie
approving the measure to defunding the Affordable Care Act "political
grandstanding."
He further said that despite Republican hopes that
Obama-care will be repealed, "That's not going to happen."
He then accused Republicans of threatening to "blow up
the entire economy" adding that "No one has the right to precipitate
such a crisis just because there are a couple of laws you don't like." He
then advised them to "Not threaten to burn the house down simply
because you haven't gotten 100 percent of your way."
Stay tuned.
